Windows 10 for phones Insider Preview Build 10080 expected this week

It’s been a month since the last Windows 10 for phones Insider Preview arrived -- Build 10052 -- but the good news is Microsoft is preparing a new release and Insiders on the Fast ring could receive it as soon as this week.

According to Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, Build 10080 is the current candidate and it’s this which will be making its way onto phones, provided it passes Microsoft’s internal testing.

Just because you opt to be on the Fast ring doesn’t mean Microsoft will risk bricking your device with a buggy build, and it will be making sure the next release is up to scratch before rolling it out.

As to when you can expect to see the new build, it’s likely to be Thursday or Friday. In a tweet, Aul explained it wouldn’t be today as it takes a couple of days to evaluate quality telemetry from the internal Microsoft ring.

Aul also tweeted that the next build would support the Lumia Icon, which will likely please owners of that device who have been waiting to try out the new mobile OS.

Obviously there’s no guarantee the build will arrive this week, but there’s every chance and if it does we’ll be sure to let you know the moment it’s released.
