Google brings Cardboard Camera to iOS for virtual reality fun
Google's dream of bringing virtual reality to the masses just took another big leap forward. The popular Cardboard Camera app is now available for iOS, giving iPhone users the chance to capture and share VR photos.
For many people Google Cardboard has been all about finding a cheap way to enjoy virtual reality experiences that other people have created. Cardboard Camera gives you the chance to create your own.
If you've not used Cardboard Camera before, Google explains what it is: "Whether you're hiking on the Olympic Peninsula or attending your cousin's wedding, go beyond the flat photo or selfie. With Cardboard Camera -- now available on iOS as well as Android -- you can capture 3D 360-degree virtual reality photos. Just like Google Cardboard, it works with the phone you already have with you".
Google says that sharing is now possible on both mobile platforms now as well:
Starting today, you can also share your VR photos with friends and family on both iPhone and Android devices. Select multiple photos to create a virtual photo album, tap the share icon, and Cardboard Camera will generate a link (like this) that can be emailed, messaged, or posted in apps and on the web. With a VR viewer like Google Cardboard, your friends can relive those moments as if they were there.
You can download Cardboard Camera for iOS from the App Store.
