Logitech unveils 'Z337 Bold Sound with Bluetooth' for Windows, Mac, and iPhone 7
When you buy a desktop computer, it will sometimes come with speakers for audio. When they are included, however, they are often terrible -- replacing them is probably a good idea. If you are a system builder, you must buy some for your rig -- if you don't already own some, that is. Laptops have integrated speakers, but they don't always produce great sound. I state all of these things to make a point -- dedicated quality speakers are almost always a smart buy.
Most computer speakers come with a 3.5mm audio plug, and sometimes RCA connectors too. This is perfect for connecting to, say, a Windows desktop, or an Apple MacBook. But wait -- Apple just got rid of the headphone jack on the iPhone 7. What if you want a speaker system that will work with both your PC and your smartphone? Today, Logitech unveils a 2.1 speaker system that will meet your needs. The 'Z337 Bold Sound with Bluetooth' offers 3.5mm for connecting to Windows 10, Linux, and macOS machines, but in addition, it has Bluetooth for connecting to an iPhone 7 or other smartphone or tablet. Nice!
"With 80 watts peak power, this speaker system brings all your favorite content to life with clear sound and strong bass. In addition to the wireless connection, you can also connect the Logitech Z337 to your content source via either a 3.5mm or RCA input -- so it's easy to hook up to a monitor, a computer or video game console, while still enjoying wireless connectivity with other devices", says Logitech.
The manufacturer further explains, "the speaker also features a control pod that you can put in a convenient spot for easy access to essential speaker controls, such as power, volume and Bluetooth pairing, along with a headphone jack for those times when you want to listen quietly. A dedicated knob on the back of the subwoofer lets you adjust the bass level".
While the control pod will come in very handy, it is a bit disappointing that bass controls are not found on it, but on the subwoofer instead. This means that if your subwoofer is on the floor as it should be -- maybe under your desk -- you might have to get on your hands and knees to turn the bass up or down. If you don't adjust your bass often, that is not an issue. For me, however, I must adjust bass depending on the time of day as to not bother family members. Constantly going under my desk could prove tiresome.

Bass control concerns aside, the 'Z337 Bold Sound with Bluetooth' looks to be a really well-designed product. I can see the elegant-looking 2.1 speaker system blending in well in a home, office, or on an executive's desk.
Keep in mind, the Bluetooth connection can be used with compatible PCs too -- it is not limited to phones and tablets. Conversely, if your devices have a headphone jack, you can leverage the wired connection -- it is very versatile.
The Logitech 'Z337 Bold Sound with Bluetooth' will be available later this month for $99. Even without Bluetooth, that is a reasonable price -- wireless connectivity is simply icing on the cake. Don't forget that Christmas and Hanukkah are coming up; even if you don't need new speakers, they would make a brilliant holiday gift for a friend or family member.
Will you buy it? Tell me in the comments.
