Wacom unveils two new Bamboo styluses -- 'Ink' for Windows 10 and 'Sketch' for iOS

Bambo_WACOM_Windows10_iOSDrawing and writing on a computer are both important features for creative types, but not everyone has the need. If you do have the need for a quality stylus, however, both Windows 10 and iOS are optimized for such things. The Surface line of personal computers and the iPad Pro, for instance, have official stylus accessories.

If you find yourself needing a third-party stylus for your Windows 10 or iOS device, Wacom has two new products that may interest you. The first such device is called Bamboo Ink, and it is named quite appropriately, as it is designed for Windows 10's Ink feature. For iOS -- including iPhone -- the company unveils the Bamboo Sketch. Both writing devices can be used with different types of replaceable tips for a more custom experience.

"The potential for bringing ideas to life is now limitless. By pushing the top of the Bamboo Ink stylus, users can launch Windows Ink Workspace, the quick and easy pen-driven feature on Windows 10 devices. With Bamboo Ink and Windows Ink, users may doodle and take notes directly on their screen in a dedicated inking environment such as Screen Sketch. The stylus can also launch a pen-enabled app like Sticky Notes or Bamboo Paper, where notes or drawings created in the Bamboo Paper app can soon be synchronized across devices with Wacom’s Inkspace service to store, access, and manage ideas in the cloud," says Wacom.

The company also says, "With Bamboo Sketch's incredible pressure sensitivity, consumers can write and draw in a way that looks and feels like a pen on paper. When paired with select apps, the smart stylus boasts 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity. For visual thinkers on the go, it's easy to store and transport the new smart stylus in a neat travel case that carries the pen, replacement nibs, and USB charging unit, so users can sketch and draw anywhere."

Wacom claims 15 hours of battery life for the Bamboo Sketch. It can be charged using a convenient USB Type-A dongle, although iOS devices do not have such a connector, meaning you would have to charge it off of a different device or with a USB AC adapter. For the Ink, Wacom fails to list the battery life, making it seem that it won't be as good as the Sketch. With that said, it leverages non-rechargeable AAAA batteries, meaning you can keep some spares in your bag for when it does deplete.

The Wacom Bamboo Ink launches tomorrow, June 1, for $79.95. The Bambook Sketch will cost the same, but its release date is a bit less definitive. For the iOS stylus, Wacom only lists June for availability, with no exact date.
