Fastly adds the power of edge computing to Google BigQuery
Companies continue to be keen to exploit the power of big data analytics, and one of the most popular platforms for doing this is Google's BigQuery.
Edge cloud platform Fastly is announcing a new integration that allows the real-time streaming of logs to BigQuery. This, the first of a number of planned integrations with Google's Cloud Platform, aims to deliver better performance and faster real-time insights.
Fastly provides private interconnects with Google at 14 strategic locations around the world. By connecting directly with Google's network backbone, bypassing the public internet, it can reduce the latency to GCP data. Compared to other cloud providers, GCP customers can see an increase in response times for content requests going over Fastly's network.
BigQuery integration allows the streaming of real-time logs from Fastly to Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery, allowing companies to analyze unlimited amounts of edge data. This can be used to get insights into web traffic or to troubleshoot performance and configuration issues. Fastly log data can also be combined with other data sources such as Google Analytics, Google Ads data and/or security and firewall logs using a BigQuery table.
"Fastly's new BigQuery integration is a great example of how we partner to maximize innovation and customer choice" says Adam Massey, director, strategic technology partners at Google Cloud. "Together, Fastly's edge cloud platform and BigQuery allow companies to analyze unlimited amounts of edge data for real-time, actionable insights on a highly-scalable and reliable infrastructure."
You can find out more about the integration on the Fastly website or on the Google Cloud Platform blog.
