Systems Administrators make up the backbone of any organization’s technical infrastructure. Considering their range of responsibilities for maintaining the stability and performance of servers, networks, databases, software platforms, security tools, cloud services, and endpoints, when they talk leaders should listen.

SysAdmins need the organizational and financial support of their business leaders to do their jobs but can often find they aren't always on the same page. For example, in a recent survey on trends in IT, members of the C-suite and IT professionals responded very differently to questions regarding their organization’s network. C-suite respondents were nearly four times more likely to report their organization makes daily network configuration changes compared to technicians, and were nearly twice as confident as IT technicians in the effectiveness of their network tools for supporting a remote or hybrid workforce.

A new study released ahead of tomorrow's SysAdmin Day reveals that 60 percent of sysadmins admit to a lack of understanding of how to leverage AI practically in their organization.

The report from Action1 finds 72 percent of those surveyed expressed a need for training, and 45 percent are concerned about becoming obsolete in the job market due to their current level of AI literacy.

Microsoft goes through phases of deprecating features from Windows and other software and services it produces. The latest for the chopping block is a component of Windows Server Update Services -- driver synchronization.

While certainly not something that is used by everyone, WSUS driver synchronization gives sysadmins a handy way to sync driver updates across networked devices. But now the clock is ticking, as Microsoft has announced that the feature is heading to the graveyard.

Acknowledging that not everyone in the world uses a PC, Microsoft has launched a new tech community for people using its products in conjunction with Apple hardware. Called Microsoft Mac Admins, it is described as an "online community for IT professionals who are passionate and knowledgeable about using Microsoft products on Apple Mac devices in the enterprise."

The launch comes as growing numbers of organizations use Microsoft Intune and other products from the company to manage Macs in the enterprise. Microsoft says that the aim of the community is to give Mac admins a way to "connect with other users, share experiences and best practices, learn from experts and peers, get help with common issues, and be inspired by the latest innovations."
