Samsung 750 EVO SATA SSD gains wider availability and 500GB capacity option
When you are either building a desktop or upgrading a laptop, one of the first things you should focus on is the SSD. This drive will hold your precious data -- it is not the component where you should try and save money. Even if it costs a bit more, it is totally worth spending on a reliable brand.
For solid state drives, Samsung is one of the best such brands. While its drives can be a bit pricey, you get what you pay for. Today, that company announces that the budget-focused 750 EVO SSD is gaining a 500GB option to go along with 120GB and 250GB. Even better, the SATA drive is getting wider availability starting in June. Yes, the SSD is leaving the confines of emerging markets and heading to major ones, such as the USA, China, Europe, and Korea.
"Extending Samsung's heritage of offering cutting-edge memory solutions, the 750 EVO SSDs leverage Samsung’s advanced NAND flash technology and are packed with the company's proprietary TurboWrite, Dynamic Thermal Guard protection and RAPID Mode features that together contribute to their high performance. Also equipped with Samsung's powerful MGX controller, the 750 EVO SSDs provide sequential read and write speeds of up to 540MB/s and 520MB/s respectively, when TurboWrite is used", says Samsung.
Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Branded Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics explains, "Samsung is committed to constantly evolving and providing high-quality memory solutions that fit general consumer needs. We have seen high consumer demand for our 750 EVO in the 120GB and 250GB capacities, which have been available in select emerging markets since last year. We want to meet the consumers' expectation who seek a reliable memory solution to extend the longevity of their existing computers in an easy and effective way. By adding the 500GB version to the current 750 EVO line-up and supplying the drives to more regions, consumers who need high data consumption will be better served".

While this is considered a budget drive, performance is still respectable. Sure, it is not a super-fast PCIe NVMe m.2 drive, but not everyone needs -- or can afford -- such a SSD.
Speed and reliability aside, the 750 EVO has the same AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption as the more expensive 850 EVO. This is quite the amazing feat at a mere $149 for 500GB! While the 850 line of SSDs are considered by many to be the "Cadillac" of SATA SSDs, the 750 EVO looks to be a great choice too.
Best of all, you are getting Samsung's legendary reliability. When storing important data, remember, you do not want to trust a lesser-known brand. If you are on a budget, the 750 EVO should be at the top of your list.
