Twitter celebrates Father's Day by sharing dad-related Tweet data
This Sunday is Father's Day in some countries, such as the USA. This is not just a day to celebrate biological fathers, but anybody that filled that role. As the family dynamic changes, there are households with two fathers. Heck, in some single-parent families, a woman serves as both a mom and dad, meaning she too should be celebrated. In other words, there is no wrong way to celebrate -- if you feel that a person deserves your praise and recognition, then they do!
Today, in anticipation of the holiday, Twitter shares some interesting tweet information regarding dads. One of the biggest values of the social network is text mining, and the company is giving us a glimpse into its dad data -- dada?
"I'm one of the leads on #TwitterParents, a new employee resource group. My partner and I have two six-year-old twin boys and there is rarely a day that goes by that they don't astound me with something they say or do. Millions of dads share the life-changing experiences of fatherhood, large and small, on Twitter. To celebrate the dads who Tweet, we took a deeper look inside the community, and we found they are as diverse on Twitter as they are IRL", says Marcus Mabry US Curation Lead, Twitter Moments.

Mabry further shares, "there have been 200 million Tweets about dads and fathers in the past year, and many of those come from the 7.5 million people who identify themselves as a 'Dad' or 'Father' in their Twitter bios. The most Tweeted word to accompany the phrase 'fatherhood is…' on Twitter is 'fulfilling'".

I am rather surprised that "golf" is the most common sport associated with Father's Day. Don't get me wrong, I know that it is fairly popular, but American Football seems to be much more wildly so. If the dad-related holiday coincided with the NFL season, this might be very different.
