Lawsuit Over Scratched Xbox 360 Discs
An Xbox 360 user in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has filed a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft for damage done by the console to individual game discs. His lawyer has stated that his client wants all his damaged games replaced or equal monetary compensation for them.
The individual's claim is that the laser used to read the discs causes permanent damage to them, and that the documentation included with the system does not advise against moving the Xbox 360 while it is turned on.
While this issue has been discussed on numerous gaming sites in the past, the lawsuit also claims that damage can occur even when the console is stationary.
Microsoft's gaming console has been shown to have as high as a 30% failure rate, but the company has long been committed to keeping its customers' investments safe.
This suit comes to light just days after Microsoft's warranty extension to cover any "Red Ring of Death" failures that may occur within 3 years of purchase of an Xbox 360 system.
