Kodak Delivers First Dual-Lens Digital Camera

Kodak will unveil the world's first dual-lens digital camera at the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas, the company said. The EasyShare V570, will combine a 5X optical zoom lens with a ultra-wide angle lens in a camera that is less than an inch thin.

As well as being able to shoot still images, the camera can record TV-quality video at 30 frames per second using MPEG-4 compression. Shaky images will be automatically stabilized through the camera's internal image stabilization technology.

"Capturing high quality photos with maximum ease of use are at the top of people's lists when buying a new digital camera," general manager of digital cameras for Kodak Mary Hadley said. "By delivering on these needs in a completely new way, the EasyShare V570 camera pushes the boundaries of innovative design for ultra-compact cameras."

With the wide-angle lens, the camera will automatically stitch together three pictures for a 180-degree panorama shot through its panorama scene mode.

Other features include a 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD screen, automatic red-eye reduction, 22 scene modes and three color modes, 32MB internal memory with SD card slot for expansion, and in-camera distortion correction.

The V570 is expected to be available worldwide by the end of this month for $399 USD.
