Verizon boosts software defined networking with Cloud IP Platform
Businesses are moving more of their systems to the cloud and that includes infrastructure projects like networking and provision for branch offices.
Telecoms provider Verizon is updating its software defined networking (SDN) platform with a new Software Defined Secure Branch (SD-Branch) managed service powered by Versa Networks' Cloud IP platform.
The Versa solution will be integrated into Verizon's Virtual Network Services offering that allows customers to reduce complexity and control costs by virtualizing multiple components of a branch office. These include public and private network connectivity management, wireless connectivity, multi-site network support, application based quality of service and multi layered security.
"Verizon has been an early and aggressive innovator in software defining their network, as well as their customers’ networks," says Kelly Ahuja, CEO of Versa Networks. "Verizon saw the wider set of challenges that businesses were having across branch offices, and has designed a comprehensive service to virtualize, software define, manage and secure the full branch."
Software Defined Secure Branch offers businesses a number of benefits, delivering a better cloud user experience with integrated application and path intelligence for improved cloud access. Plus it offers simplified branch office networking, the ability to maintain security at the branch level with less equipment, and a lowering of operational cost and time with centralized control and automated provisioning.
