Replacing the screen of a Samsung Galaxy Fold might not be as expensive as you feared
Beset by a seemingly endless list of problems and delays, the Samsung Galaxy Fold will surely go down in technological history as one of the most troublesome launches ever.
For anyone who stuck things out and was willing to part with the best part of two grand, there is some good news. Despite the unique technology used in the handset, Samsung has revealed that for early purchasers it has a special, low price for replacing a broken screen... the first time it happens, at least.

A leaflet included in the box of the Galaxy Fold reveals that anyone buying the phone this year is entitled to an out-of-warranty screen replacement for just $149. Considering the price of the phone, and the usual cost of screen replacements, this seems like an extraordinarily low price.
But the fact that Samsung has highlighted this offer would seem to make the worrying suggestion that it is expecting there to be a lot of broken screens... and this is a little worrying.
The leaflet in box reads:
Screen Replacement Offer
To give you peace of mind with this exciting new screen technology, we are offering a one-time out of warranty screen replacement within one year of purchase for the special price of $149 (+ taxes) if you purchased your Galaxy Fold before December 31, 2019.
Samsung does not reveal what the pricing will be outside of this period, or for anyone who buys the Galaxy Fold in 2020.
