Leaked: Microsoft is planning a significant visual update for Windows 11
For anyone who has been put off upgrading to Windows 11 because of the way it looks, there could be some good news. While there is not a complete redesign of the operating system on the cards, there are supposedly plans to revamp the aesthetics of a key component -- File Explorer.
We have already seen Microsoft giving File Explorer some attention with the arrival of the somewhat polarizing tabbed interface. Now news has been leaked by reliable source FireCube Studios which says we can look forward to another major update as some point in the future.
Leaked: Microsoft is bringing tabs to more apps in Windows 11
Having revolutionized the way we browse the web, tabs made their way to File Explorer in Windows 11. Now, thanks to a premature -- and now-deleted -- tweet, we also know that Microsoft is looking to do the same with other apps.
A Microsoft employee shared a screenshot on Twitter that depicts an updated version of the Notepad app, complete with two open tabs. It is not known if the addition of tabs will come in the next Moment update for Windows 11, but it is something that is undergoing internal testing.
Microsoft warns against using leaked beta of unreleased One Outlook app for Windows 11
In recent days the yet-to-be-released successor to Windows 11's Outlook app leaked online. Called One Outlook, this unreleased beta version is known as Project Monarch.
This is not the first we have heard of One Outlook; it was originally scheduled for release last year, but the launch was delayed. But the leak was the first time anyone has been able to try out the app, but Microsoft has issued a warning saying that this is an "unsupported early test version" which is missing features.
Microsoft confirms it was hacked as Lapsus$ leaks 37GB of source code
Microsoft has confirmed reports that it was hacked by the Lapsus$ extortion group, also known as DEV-0537. While admitting that the hackers managed to steal source code, the company is simultaneously trying to downplay the incident.
Lapsus$ shared a 37GB archive online containing partial source code for Cortana and Bing, but Microsoft insists that no customer data was compromised. The company says that "our investigation has found a single account had been compromised, granting limited access."
