Scrolling support for Google Translate arrives in Circle to Search

Google has added an important feature to the popular translation feature of Circle to Search. While the dedicated Google Translate app or web site are perfect for translating between languages in numerous scenarios, Circle to Search provides another means of accessing the handy functionality.
The fact that Circle to Search offers translation is not new – so much so that Google is quick to point out that “translation is one of the most-used features in Circle to Search”. What is new is the ability to translate while scrolling.
Why ChatGPT won't solve your real-time translation needs

New technologies debut almost every day. This constant barrage of novel tools creates a perpetual cycle of overshadowing -- someone is always introducing a new technology that eclipses the previous innovation, and then something even newer comes out, and the cycle repeats itself. However, OpenAI’s ChatGPT broke that cycle.
Since ChatGPT’s debut in late 2022, the generative AI tool has exploded in popularity. It took just two months for the platform to reach 100 million users, a speed that shattered the previous record for fastest-growing app. The creators of ChatGPT expect the tool to generate $200 million this year and project that number will grow to $1 billion next year. Other businesses, like Google and Grammarly, are taking note. Both of these organizations have developed their own generative AI tool to enhance their business operations.
How the metaverse is set to change the way businesses communicate [Q&A]

Increased use of the metaverse and other immersive spaces using VR, AR and digital avatars, is going to change how businesses communicate with their customers.
In an increasingly globalized world part of the issue is how real time experience will cope with the use of different languages. This is expected to put real pressure on automated and machine translation services to deliver fast, accurate results.
Automated translation services help deliver BEC attacks

Business email compromise (BEC) attacks are a major issue and are reckoned to have accounted for over a third of all financial losses from cyberattacks in 2021.
While not as common as phishing, BEC is a serious threat and it's not just in English-speaking countries. Abnormal Security has identified two groups using executive impersonation to execute BEC attacks on companies worldwide.

Building on the popularity of its private search tool, the company is continuing the expansion of its privacy-focused services.
Having already launched Private Shopping, Private Currency Converter and Private Stocks this year, Startpage has now added Private Language Translator to its rostrum.
Microsoft kills off its Windows 10 Translator app

Although the Microsoft Store is home to loads of Windows 10 apps, there aren’t many truly great ones available to download. The biggest problem is programs (legacy apps as Microsoft likes to call them), which are typically found elsewhere, are often better and more powerful. And there are also web apps that are just as capable as many Windows 10 apps but don’t require installation.
It’s no surprise therefore that developers don’t go out of their way to create apps for the Microsoft Store. Of those that have given it a try, many have ceased development because the demand just isn’t strong enough. You’d think Microsoft would continue to develop apps for its own platform, but even it knows when it's time to pull the plug.
