Intel improves its Unite conference room technology
With businesses becoming more geographically dispersed and employees often working on different platforms, conferencing is a vital tool. But the challenge of getting equipment to cooperate can result in loss of time and productivity.
Chip maker Intel had this issue in its own business and came up with an in-house solution to solve the problem. Intel Unite improved the company's meeting set-up time by 70 percent and was made available to other businesses. Now it wants to make Unite more attractive with some new enhancements to the product.
Intel Unite allows any PC to wirelessly connect to existing monitors, whiteboards and projectors without requiring any special cables, cords or adapters. With Unite, users can share documents, screen share and provide a 360 degree camera view of a conference room. It already offers peer-to-peer sharing and a rotating pin for enhanced security. But now Intel has introduced additional features that help in the logistics of setting up, accessing and running a meeting.
Among the additions are a meeting lock, which will prevent additional attendees from joining a conference call/video meeting that's already in progress. There's also improved video playback with audio support, integration with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook to improve scheduling, a plug-in for protected guest access, and a native iPad app.
You can find out more about Unite on the Intel website and there's a short video of how it works below.
