Apple will not approve updates and new apps during winter holidays
The winter holidays are fast approaching and, just like other workers, many folks in the tech industry are looking forward to their vacation days. But, before employees can celebrate and unwind, companies have to adjust their schedule accordingly and prepare their customers for the limited (or lack of) office hours.
Apple announces its schedule today, advising developers to submit their updates and new apps for approval in time, to avoid any delays and inconveniences.
Between December 23 and December 27, Pacific Time, Apple says that it will not validate any updates or new apps, "so any releases should be submitted, approved, and scheduled in advance". That is, unless developers do not mind waiting for the App Store reviewers to come back to work on December 28.
For Apple, the winter holidays are extremely busy in terms of App Store activity, and the company is sure to have staff ready in case of emergencies. Many customers will be configuring their new iPhones, iPads and Macs and installing loads of apps on them, and I would not be surprised to hear of new records afterwards.
But for what can be considered non-essential personnel, the winter holidays are still the winter holidays and many of its employees will probably want to be doing anything other than working in those couple of days. This schedule only affects developers, as you can probably tell, so for everyone else it will be business as usual.
