Windows 2000 Datacenter Server Ships

Microsoft today released to manufacturing the high-end Windows 2000, dubbed 'Datacenter Server.' A bit delayed, this release comes almost six months after the release or Windows 2000 for home and business. Datacenter Server supports up to 32 processors and 64GB of memory, and thus is aimed at application hosting providers. Systems with Windows 2000 Datacenter Server will ship late next month at a currently undetermined price. Microsoft wrote in a press release today, "With the release to manufacturers of the Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, the Windows 2000 family is complete, providing a solid and reliable platform that will exceed the needs of a wide range of computing environments."
