Sprint Debuts the HTC Mogul

Sprint on Monday introduced the Mogul, the company's first Windows Mobile 6 device that will support its enhanced EV-DO Revision A network.

Out of the box, the phone will support the current network, although Sprint said it would enable the faster Revision A through a software upgrade. The Mogul -- built by manufacturer HTC -- replaces the PPC-6700, its bulkier predecessor.

In addition, the device has about a 20 percent longer battery life than the 6700, and includes more memory with 256MB of internal storage. The internal camera now supports 2-megapixels of resolution.

Other features of the Mogul include built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a thumbwheel for easy navigation, support for Java-based applications and Sprint's On Demand service. Support for the Sprint Music Store through an over-the-air download will arrive in July.

"The Mogul by HTC is another example of the innovation and broad functionality that HTC is bringing to its customers," HTC America vice president Todd Achilles said in a statement.

Mobile versions of Microsoft Office as well as Windows Media Player, a PDF Viewer, and Windows Live services will also be included. The Mogul retails for $399.99 USD with a two-year contract, Sprint said.
