The future of home technology

home automation

Technology tends to creep up on us and before we know it is an essential part of our lives. In the home we're already seeing increasing numbers of smart devices like thermostats and light bulbs, but what else is on the horizon?

Electronics company RS Components has produced an interactive graphic showing some of the things we can look forward too.

Among its predictions are that by 2020 smart windows will be available that will turn opaque with the touch of a button, eliminating the need for blinds and curtains. By 2030 your bed will nudge you to improve your sleeping position and prevent snoring. It will also be able to monitor your temperature and adjust its firmness. By 2045 kitchens will include 3D Printers that can create food such as pizza, cookies and pretzels on demand.

To find out more enter your age in the graphic below and see the technologies that could become mainstream in your lifetime.
