When will Google launch the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2?
With the Pixel and Pixel XL on the market for nearly a year and Android 8.0 Oreo launched this week, it will not be long until Google takes the wraps off the second-generation Pixel smartphones. Question is, when can we expect the big announcement to be made?
Considering that Android 8.0 Oreo arrived one year after its predecessor, it is likely that Google will wait until early-October to unveil the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Last year, that's when it announced the first-generation. And a tweet from famous leaker Evan Blass lends credence to this theory.
Evan Blass says that the new Pixels will be officially announced on October 5, one year and a day after the Pixel and Pixel XL. What's more, the new flagships will feature a new Qualcomm processor.
The Snapdragon 836 will power the Pixel and Pixel XL. It's an upgraded version of the chip maker's current high-end processor, the Snapdragon 835, which is found in many Android flagships launched in 2017, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11.
Blass has not revealed any other information. That said, we also know that HTC is the company making the Pixel 2, while LG is rumored to be manufacturing the Pixel XL 2.
Is it worth noting that while Blass is typically reliable, he's been known to provide inaccurate reports from time to time. So, keep that in mind as you wait for Google to announce the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.
