Bitcoin sets new price record above $11,000
After hitting $10,000 for the first time yesterday, the latest rally continues to take Bitcoin to new highs. The most valuable cryptocurrency set another price record moments ago as it went past the $11,000 mark.
And it did not stop there. On major exchanges, like Bitfinex, GDAX and Bitstamp, Bitcoin is trading for around $11,300. South Korean exchanges Bithumb, Coinone and Korbit, which offer BTC/KRW pairs, report prices of over $12,100.
At the time of writing this article, Coinmarketcap, which aggregates data from dozens of exchanges, has the price average for Bitcoin at $11,400. The volume for the day so far is a massive $9.55 billion. Bitcoin's market cap reached $190 billion.
Bitcoin is up significantly day over day, but so are the other major coins. The gains in the top 10 are pretty substantial, with Cardano posting an increase of over 100 percent since yesterday. Only Ethereum Classic is down, by 6.6 percent.
Ethereum is up as well, now trading for over $510. Dash is up to $746, Litecoin broke past $100, and IOTA is up to $1.48. The cryptocurrency market is now worth over $340 billion. It added the last $30 billion in the past 24 hours.
