Lenovo Legion 9i 18-inch laptop with RTX 5090 and glasses free 3D display is designed for gamers and creators

At its Tech World event in Shanghai today, Lenovo officially unveiled one of the most impressive laptops I’ve ever seen. You see, the new Legion 9i (18”, 10) isn’t just for playing the latest video games -- it’s designed to help developers create them too. And yes, it’s also quite beautiful.
The 18-inch display here is absolutely massive, and it comes in two versions. The 2D model pushes a stunning 3840x2400 resolution at 240Hz with a 3ms response time. It’s bright at 540 nits, supports Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and is certified by both TÜV Rheinland and VESA DisplayHDR 400.
Dynabook goes all-in on AI with new Portégé X40-M, Tecra A40-M, and Tecra A60-M Windows 11 laptops

Dynabook is back with a trio of new business laptops. These aren’t some wild experiments or overpriced ultrabooks pretending to be workhorses. Actually, the new Portégé X40-M Series 2, along with the Tecra A40-M and Tecra A60-M Series 2, bring practical hardware, solid build quality, and real Copilot integration to people who need to get stuff done.
All three models come powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 chips, including options like the 225U and 265H. That means you’re getting a wide range of choices depending on whether you value battery life or processing power. You can load them up with as much as 64GB of DDR5 RAM across two slots, and yes, you can upgrade it yourself later. Just make sure you get at least 16GB in dual-channel if you want to tap into the full potential of Intel Arc graphics.
Microsoft concedes that a recent update is causing Windows 11 upgrade problems

What's the time? Well, it's time for yet another problematic update from Microsoft! The culprit on this occasion is the KB5039212 update from earlier this month, and it's especially worrying for the enterprise.
As it includes security fixes, this particular update is one that would have been installed automatically on many systems. But in addition to addressing security issues, the KB5039212 update also brought problems of its own; Microsoft has acknowledged a Windows 11 upgrade issue. Not for the first time, a fix is yet to be created.
Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop 7th Edition and Surface Pro 11th Edition Copilot+ PCs running Windows 11

Microsoft has introduced two new Copilot+ PCs, the Surface Laptop 7th Edition and Surface Pro 11th Edition, designed primarily for business customers. Equipped with Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors and running Windows 11 Pro, these devices promise faster performance and improved AI capabilities compared to the MacBook Air. The new Copilot+ PCs feature integrated NPUs, offering AI-driven tools like Recall, Live Captions with Translations, and Windows Studio Effects, which streamline daily tasks and improve collaboration.
The Surface Laptop 7th Edition offers impressive features such as brighter displays with thin bezels, enhanced connectivity with Wi-Fi 7, up to 22 hours of battery life, and multiple port options. Available in 13.8” and 15” sizes, it combines visual clarity with portability. The Surface Studio Camera and AI-powered Windows Studio Effects ensure clear and confident video calls, while the Omnisonic Speakers and AI-enhanced Studio Mics improve audio quality.
BitLocker could be cutting the performance of SSDs almost in half in Windows 11

A new report goes some way to showing that the BitLocker security feature of Windows 11 could be massively reducing the performance of SSDs.
An investigation found that the data encryption tool, which is enabled by default in Windows 11 Pro, can slow solid state drives by as much as 45 percent. While it would be reasonable to expect a bit of a performance drop overall as the software works away encrypting and decrypting files, few people would expect the hit to be quite so significant.
Windows 11 will force users to create Microsoft accounts

If you're using Windows 11, there is a reasonable chance that you have a Microsoft account -- but it is not necessarily the case. While there are various advantages to signing into Windows using your Microsoft account, it is not something everyone feels entirely comfortable with.
So it will come as bad news to such hold-outs that Microsoft is going to force some users to create such an account. The change is coming to Window 11 Pro, meaning that home users who have opted for this version of Windows, in addition to the organizations, businesses and enterprises that use this edition of the operating system are affected. But there is some good news.
Dynabook launches affordable Satellite Pro C40-J and C50-J Windows 11 laptops

You need a laptop, but don't know which to buy. Should you buy a Mac? Meh, those are good computers, but rather pricey -- the new notched screens are very ugly too. Chromebooks can be a great choice -- as long as your needs are fairly meager. Ultimately, many consumers are still wise to go with good ol' Windows. You know what? Windows 11 is shockingly good, so you should have no qualms about getting a computer with Microsoft's latest operating system.
Today, Dynabook (formerly Toshiba) launches not one, but two "Satellite Pro" laptops running Microsoft's excellent Windows 11 Pro. Called "C40-J" and "C50-J," the former has a 14-inch FHD screen, while the latter has a 15.6-inch FHD display. Both are designed with affordability in mind, but despite reasonable pricing, these thin and light laptops do not look like budget machines.
