VirusScan 4.5 Beta 1 Now Available

Network Associates sends word about the first beta release of VirusScan 4.5, which now includes support for Windows 9x, NT, and 2000 in a single installation.
All platforms include new VShield scanning technology and "allow you to install optional modules that look for viruses and other malicious code that arrives via Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) mail systems, file downloads from the Internet, potentially dangerous Web sites, and other sources." The VShield technology in this release brings robust protection from harmful Java
applets and ActiveX controls to the Windows NT and Windows 2000 platform for the first time.
VirusScan 4.5 also contains the newest AutoUpdate technology, allowing the user to download incremental DAT file updates without having to replace the entire virus library.
This first beta release does not contain any updates to documentation.
