OnePlus 3 receives OxygenOS 3.2.6 OTA update
OnePlus has done a fantastic job with its latest "flagship killer". The OnePlus 3 is an awesome smartphone not just because of its impressive hardware but also its software, which has received constant attention since launch. OnePlus has released a significant number of updates so far, which have noticeably improved the user experience. The latest official build to see the light of day is OxygenOS 3.2.6.
The "sizable" OxygenOS 3.2.6 OTA update, which is rolling out now, addresses certain issues, improves different features of the Android distribution, and adds new options. It also packs the latest security patches from Google, released in September.
OnePlus lists the following main changes brought by OxygenOS 3.2.6:
- Optimized voice call quality of some IM applications.
- Improved adaptive brightness performance
- Improved camera quality
- Fixed occasional green/yellow issue
- Optimized white balance
- Improved 1080p video recording
- Addressed some bluetooth connection problems for vehicles
- Allows third party application to modify ringtone
- Optimized battery consumption when scrolling
- Optimized touch accuracy when playing games
- Added DozeMode switch in Developer options
- Added PocketMode switch in Display settings
While I have yet to test the quality of the 1080p video recording after the update, in my review (which you can read by hitting the link in the opening paragraph) I noted that it did not match the quality of the 4K content produced with the device. Switching to a higher bitrate would be an obvious tweak to make.
Scrolling seems different in OxygenOS 3.2.6. The speed appears to be a tad slower than before, like some sort of smooth scrolling option is now turned on. It will be interesting to see whether battery life improves in a noticeable manner.
If you want to get your hands on OxygenOS 3.2.6 you can either wait for your OnePlus 3 to notify you of its availability or grab the OTA update from the OnePlus forums and manually sideload it. There seem to be no major issues with it at this time, so feel free to install it right away.
The OxygenOS 3.2.6 update is still based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. OnePlus is likely working on an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat, but there is no word yet on when it will be officially available. In the meantime, if you do not mind unofficial builds, you can try this distribution.
