Windows 11 Build 22593 arrives with loads of important fixes

Windows 11 laptop

There was no new Windows 11 build for Insiders last week, but Microsoft is back to its usual release schedule this Wednesday and once again the latest flight is being made available to both the Dev and Beta Channels.

This means that Build 22593 doesn’t have any of the more experimental new features typically found in Dev Channel builds, but it does come with some changes and improvements, as well as a huge number of fixes. Insiders can also easily switch from the Dev Channel to the Beta Channel, should they wish to.

Microsoft releases Windows 11 Build 22581, offers testers a rare chance to switch channels

Windows 11 laptop

It’s Wednesday, which typically means a new Windows 11 build for Insiders in the Dev Channel, but today's flight, Build 22581, is being made available for those in the Beta Channel as well, giving those users the opportunity to at last try out new features, such as Live Captions, Start folders, the redesigned Task Manager, and the tablet optimized taskbar.

The fact that both Dev and Beta testers are receiving the same build means that Insiders will now have the rare chance to switch Channels, should they wish to. Dev Channel releases have become much more experimental recently, which won’t suit everyone.

The software giant didn’t roll out a new build to Dev Channel Insiders on Wednesday this week, as is usually the case, so instead it’s delivering new build 22579 today, along with ISO files for it. There are some new features and improvements to be enjoyed in this flight, including the ability to name your folders on Start, and site suggestions in the Get Started app that you can pin to your taskbar.

Windows 11 laptop

A month ago, Microsoft announced a change to the Windows Insider program that would see Dev Channel releases becoming "more experimental". As a result of this, the last two builds have introduced bigger changes and new features.

Microsoft releases Windows 11 Build 22563 with widget improvements and a tablet-optimized taskbar

Windows 11 laptop

It used to be we’d get a new Dev Channel Insider build of Windows 11 every Wednesday, but that’s no longer guaranteed to be the case. Insiders had to wait a full two-weeks before Build 22557 finally rolled out, although there were few complaints about the delay in the end as it was one of the most exciting, feature-packed releases. New additions included the addition of folders in the pinned apps area of Start, live captions, a new Focus experience, Quick Access improvements in File Explorer, new touch gestures, and more

It may not be Wednesday today, but Microsoft has returned to its weekly schedule with Build 22563. This flight isn’t quite as thrilling as the last one -- how could it be? -- but it still has a lot going for it.

No new Windows 11 Insider build again this week

Microsoft usually rolls out new Windows 11 Dev Channel builds to Insiders on a Wednesday, although occasionally this slips to Thursday or even Friday.

Microsoft bringing more experimental features to Windows 11 Insider builds

Microsoft usually rolls out new Windows 11 builds to Insiders in the Dev Channel on a weekly basis, but it won’t be doing so this week as it has run into some quality issues with its planned flight.

What the software giant has done however, is lifted the lid on what’s coming to the Windows Insider Program this year. Microsoft says it has more people running test builds of Windows 11 than it did with Windows 10, and going forward its focus will be on trying out new, more experimental features and services.
