Panasonic launches 'evolved' new TOUGHBOOK G2 fully rugged tablet

Over the years, laptop and tablet manufacturers have striven to make their devices thinner and lighter. That’s fine for people working in offices, at home or in coffee shops, but for construction or emergency service workers out in the field, they need something that’s going to withstand daily knocks and bashes.

Panasonic has been making its TOUGHBOOK line of rugged computers for 25 years now and today at a virtual 'Evolved2Adapt' event, the company took the wraps off the successor to its popular fully rugged tablet -- the TOUGHBOOK G2.

Panasonic refreshes 'Toughbook 20' rugged 2-in-1 Windows 10 detachable laptop

Have you ever walked into a Starbucks and seen a bunch of millennials sipping expensive lattes as they type on their super-thin (and often fragile) laptops? Please know that is not the only way people work with computers. Actually, there are many hardworking men and women that do downright dirty jobs in the field -- a thin laptop and a fancy latte just won't do. These folks need a normal cup of coffee to go and a laptop that can withstand abuse.

For many years, Panasonic has been producing its "Toughbook" line of computers for the blue-collar workers that make the world turn. The company's machines can take a beating, making them ideal for first responders, construction workers, the military, and more. While they may cost a bit more up front, they can pay for themselves over time as they survive when other computers will have already died. Today, the company refreshes its famed 10.1-inch "Toughbook 20" 2-in-1 Windows 10 detachable laptop/tablet with a new 8mp rear camera, a bridge battery, plus updated processor and storage options.

Panasonic unveils Toughbook 33 2-in-1 detachable rugged laptop

While some people may feel that their office job is stressful -- and maybe it is -- there are workers in the world that do physically hard work that is much more strenuous. They may work in dangerous and dirty conditions where not only is their health at risk, but so too is their computer. For instance, they may work in a location with tremendous dust, risk of flooding, and falling debris. For these jobs, an extremely rugged laptop or tablet could be needed.

When it comes to rugged computers, Panasonic's legendary Toughbook laptops are always a wise choice. These computers have a reputation for surviving really rough conditions. Today, the company announces its latest bad-ass notebook -- the Toughbook 33. Not only is it a laptop, but a detachable tablet too.
