Revolut Mobile lands in the UK with impressive roaming data
Fintech giant Revolut has started to roll out its own mobile network across the UK. Revolut Mobile is designed – like Revolut’s banking products – with travel in mind, including a generous roaming package as standard.
The network will use Vodafone’s infrastructure and a special introductory price is available for anyone who jumps on board early on. There is a waitlist in place, with the full launch due in January 2026.
Digital bank Monzo gains a full European banking licence
UK-based digital bank Monzo is ready to expand into Europe. The fintech has acquired a full banking licence from the Central Bank in Ireland, as well as from the European Central Bank.
Monzo has gone from strength to strength since it launched back in 2015. Now the company’s European headquarters will be in Dublin, where it will be regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
Fintech Revolut valued at $75 billion following fundraising share sale
Revolut, the London-based fintech, has completed a fundraising process which values the company at $75 billion. The fundraising involved a share sale which saw NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm, investing in the company.
Employees of Revolut were able to sell their shares if they wished to do so, making this the fifth time Revolut has afforded them this opportunity. The valuation and fundraising come as we near the end of a year in which the fintech gained banking authorization in Mexico, earned its banking incorporation licence in Colombia, and prepare to launch in another key market – India.
Revolut customer data exposed in cyberattack
Fintech firm Revolut has been hit by a cyberattack that resulted in personal data of tens of thousands of users being exposed.
Described as a "highly targeted" attack -- although it is not clear who was targeted or why -- the security incident took place on the night of September 11. The attack gave an unauthorized third-party access to a range of data including postal and email addresses, account information, and phone numbers.
Fintech startup Revolut brings cryptocurrency trading to US customers
British fintech firm Revolut has partnered with New York-based Paxos to bring Bitcoin and Ethereum trading to customers in the US.
Having only launched in the United States in March this year, Revolut is gradually bringing the services it already offers in Europe to its American user base. Thanks to the new partnership, residents of 49 states can now indulge in some crypto trading.
Revolut launches Revolut Junior to help kids learn financial skills
Fintech darling and banking disruptor Revolut is launching a new product designed with 7- to 17-year-olds in mind, but it is not a standalone service.
A Revolut Junior account can only be set up by a parent who already has a Revolut account, and it gives younger people the ability to use a digital app and a payment card which can be used online and in the real world. Parents are in control at all times, choosing where payments can be made.
