Microsoft reminded users this month that Windows 10 support officially ends on October 14, 2025, but here’s what’s new: for the first time, regular users will have to pay to keep getting security updates after that.
The company confirmed it will offer Extended Security Updates (ESU) starting in late 2025, a program once reserved for businesses. Pricing hasn’t been finalized for individuals, but Microsoft has made it clear: no more free patches after the deadline.

Microsoft, it seems, never learns. Despite having repeatedly riled users by pestering them with ads for its products the company seems intent on continuing to use Windows to badger people.
The latest example of this is a full screen message displayed to Windows 10 users inviting them on a "new journey with Windows". The nag screen serves as a reminder that support for Windows 10 comes to an end in 18 months, but it is also being used to promote Windows 11 -- even on computers that are not able to run the latest version of the operating system.
Microsoft will give Europeans the option to remove Edge and Bing from Windows
Microsoft is giving users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 living in the European Economic Area (EEA) greater control over their software. The company will soon be making it possible to extricate Microsoft Edge and Bing from the operating system.
This is not really by choice, however. Microsoft is introducing the changes in order to comply with the EEA's Digital Markets Act (DMA). The removal options will be rolling out to Windows 11 users in preview first followed by Windows 10. Microsoft says that both Windows 10 22H2 and Winodws 11 23H2 will be fully compliant by March next year.

Classic WordPad will soon no longer be a part of Windows. Microsoft changed the status of the rich text editor to deprecated. WordPad will be removed "in a future release of Windows" according to Microsoft's announcement.
Fix the UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR error in Windows with a BIOS update from MSI
It is now a couple of weeks since a Windows 11 update resulted in a large number of people suddenly seeing UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR error messages.
At the time, the finger of blame was pointed at Microsoft, although the company was quick to suggest that the fault may be elsewhere. With the issue affecting MSI motherboards, the hardware manufacturer offered up a workaround. Now MSI has released a BIOS update that properly fixes the problem for Intel 700 and 600 series boards.
