Huawei MateBook 2-in-1 Windows 10 hybrid coming to USA on July 11, pre-order now!
Huawei is a very popular brand in China, but hardly a household name in the USA. Quite frankly, outside of in-the-know Android fans, you'd be hard pressed to find many Americans that know the name.
The company is looking to change this, however, in a very big way. Its MateBook 2-in-1 is finally coming to the USA. This elegant Windows 10 tablet/laptop hybrid has a very affordable starting price, and you can pre-order it starting today.
The MateBook is a curious machine, with a design reminiscent of the iPad Pro, but running a desktop operating system. Yeah, this 12-inch tablet runs Windows 10, meaning it is well-equipped for both business and personal use. It is even lighter than Apple's offering, at a shocking 1.4 pounds.
With an Intel Core m3 or m5, it is quite capable, but less powerful than a Surface Pro with a Core i. Depending on your needs, the Core m could actually be superior. Huawei promises 9+ hours of battery life thanks to the chip, not to mention silent operation thanks to the fanless design. The Surface Pro fans can be quite audible.
Even though it starts at an affordable $699, all models have some impressive premium features, such as a Hello-capable fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, USB Type-C, and a very-nice 2,160 x 1,440 resolution. Do some tablets have a higher resolution? Sure, but on a 12-inch screen this is more than enough.
Unfortunately, the MateBook does not come with the keyboard case, so that is an additional $129. If you pick up the optional stylus ($59) and docking station ($89), the base model can approach $1,000.
