Hillary Clinton questioned by FBI about personal email server

It's the issue that just won't go away for Hillary Clinton -- her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state. Today the Democratic presidential hopeful has been questioned by the FBI about her emails.

The Justice Department's investigation aims to determine if Clinton used the email account to send communication relating to national security, and whether this is illegal. She says the account was created for convenience and has denied using it to send classified information.

Her campaign was quick to point out that the interview was entirely voluntary, but did not elaborate on what had been said during the three-and-a-half-hour session. Yesterday Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that she will accept the findings of the FBI and prosecutors in determining whether Clinton should face charges.

In a statement, a spokesman for Clinton said:

Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was secretary.

She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion. Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview.
