Ballistic unveils Jewel, Urbanite Select, and Tough Jacket cases for Samsung Galaxy Note7
Android phones are rarely exciting nowadays, save for a few flagships from the major players. No manufacturer of devices running Google's mobile OS is more popular or celebrated than Samsung. It is not hard to see why -- the company listens to users and creates elegant devices to meet needs.
Some of that company's most popular such smartphones are the Galaxy Note line of productivity-focused phablets. The company recently announced the Note7 and it looks downright amazing. If you choose to purchase it, however, you will probably want to protect it with a case. Luckily, today, Ballistic unveils its new line of cases for the Samsung Galaxy Note7.
"Set to be available end of August, customers can plan ahead for the best case to keep this new mobile device fully protected. The Jewel, Urbanite Select and Tough Jacket are all engineered to provide the ultimate in drop protection for full peace of mind. Ballistic’s case designs endure a heavy QC process, and with the Note 7’s giant-screen and glass front/rear, this is more important than ever", says Ballistic.
The company further says, "in an effort to keep up with consumer demands and popular trends, Jewel, Urbanite Select and Tough Jacket are all slim enough to fit easily in one’s pocket or bag to fully minimize that stubborn bulk that often comes with rugged protection. Each case is also crafted with top-quality, high-performance materials to keep its pristine shape over daily wear and tear while also boasting a fashionable aesthetic appeal".
All three feature well-padded corners, which should do a great job of protecting against drops. They are quite a bit different otherwise, however, which is a good thing. By offering three distinct options, the company increases the odds of a consumer finding one that meets their needs.
While some folks will appreciate seeing the natural beauty of the phone by choosing the clear Jewel case ($20), I am not a big fan. Over time, dust and dirt can get trapped in there, making the presentation look a bit poor. Yes, you can remove the case to clean it periodically, and that may be no issue for you, but I'd rather not have to.
The Urbanite Select ($40) and Tough Jacket ($35) are similar, with the big difference being a single-piece design vs. a two-piece style. The former uses buffalo-leather on the rear for better grip, but the latter uses a combination of TPU plastic and silicone for optimal drop protection.
Between all three cases, my choice would be the Urbanite Select. It looks good, will protect from drops, and best of all, it should prevent drops thanks to the added grip on the rear.
Which case will you buy for the Note7? Tell me in the comments.
