Any sort of exercise is made a little easier if you're listening to music. With this in mind, Google has teamed up with Runtastic to provide access to curated playlists in Google Play Music for keen runners.

It's a feature that is -- at the moment, at least -- exclusive to Android users, and it makes it easy to choose music that will suit your mood, or the speed at which you're motoring along.

The curated playlists are a fairly simple idea, so it's surprising that it has taken so long for them to be implemented in this way. With the rollout starting today, runners in more than 60 countries will be able to select the perfect soundtrack to suit their exercise style.

Announcing the new option, Google says:

Starting today, Runtastic Running & Fitness Android app users can access a wide array of workout playlists to suit any mood or activity curated by Google Play Music. Whether you’re jogging on the open road or in gym mode, Google Play provides music to suit your preferred workout style directly in the Runtastic app so you can keep track of your fitness goals and your music at the same time in one place.

After opening the Runtastic app's music section, users will be presented with relevant workout playlists that they can play, pause and skip directly within the Runtastic app.

While the new playlist feature is only available on Android, Google is offering iOS and Android Runtastic users free music trials.
