LG rumored to be readying Arena and AT&T Neon phones
With the texting-friendly LG KS 360 now looking likely to morph into the AT&T Neon, LG is also reportedly prepping an iPhone-like device dubbed the Arena.
Photos depicting the LG KS 360 branded with an AT&T logo have now shown up on a number of blogs. Previously, the KS 360 was available on the Orange and O2 networks in Europe, for instance.
Although there's no word yet on US availability dates or pricing, features of AT&T's upcoming Neon phone will evidently include a full QWERTY keyboard, plus a 2.4-inch touchscreen geared to dialing a number from a numeric display when the phone is closed.
Reviewers in the UK have emphasized the KS 360's usefulness for text messaging. The touchscreen can turn at a 90 degree angle for easier dialing, and the QWERTY keyboard slides out from the phone for texting.
Other features of the KS 360 as sold in Europe include GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity; SMS and IM messaging; a 2-megapixel camera; and a microSD card slot.
Another possibly forthcoming phone, the LG Arena -- a.k.a., the KM 360 -- apparently appeared on a phone retailer's brochure in the Netherlands before making its way into the blogsphere.
The iPhone-like device sports a 3D user interface -- reportedly dubbed the S-Class -- which seems in the photo to show four rows of icons, grouped together by application type.
Other rumored features include a 5 megapixel camera, DivX playback, DVD video recording, GPS, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
With the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2009 now only a couple of weeks away, an introduction of the Arena at the show in Barcelona could be in the offing. There's been no indication yet, however, as to if and when the Arena will become available in the US.
