Red Hat Names New Chief Technical Officer

Red Hat Inc., distributor of Red Hat Linux, named Cygnus Solutions co-founder Michael Tiemann as its chief technical officer Wednesday.

This follows Red Hat’s closing of a $939 million dollar acquisition of Cygnus, maker of Linux software programming tools.

Tiemann will replace Red Hat’s co-founder, Marc Ewing, who plans to devote more of his time to the "Red Hat Center for Open Source," were he serves as director.
