iCEBox Device Integrates TV, Web, E-mail & Audio Player

CMi Worldwide has taken the wraps off the iCEBox appliance,
a device that integrates TV, Web, e-mail and CD audio playing
functions into a single device designed for kitchen use.

The iCEBox (Information Communication Entertainment Box) is being
launched today at the International Housewares Show in Chicago and
aims to act a "kitchen resource and entertainment hub" for the entire
household.

Two versions of the unit will be sold when the systems start shipping
this May - the countertop edition that comes with a nine-inch TV
monitor-style tube at $499, and the flip-down 12-inch LCD (liquid
crystal display) panel version at around $2,000.

Both versions of the iCEBox have a color screen, with the casing of
the unit being available in several colors, to match kitchen decor.

CMi says that, by adding a video camera, homeowners installing the LCD
flip screen model can monitor children playing in another room, or
watch the front door, for example.

Like the Juiceman juice extractor line and the Breadman automatic
bread maker - two successful icons created and marketed by CMi's
founders - the iCEBox LCD flat panel version is billed as a
"breakthrough, must-have kitchen infopliance."

Robert Lawson, the firm's chairman, said that the iCEBox will serve as
a focal point for daily information, communication and entertainment.
"Consumers using builder and installer services will want to know
about this new kitchen infopliance that will change the way they work,
live and play in the home," he said.
