E-Stamp Gets USPS Approval For E-Postage Browser Testing

E-Stamp Corp. has received approval from the
US Postal Service to start testing its Web browser electronic postage (e-postage) technology. At the same time, the company has souped up its regular E-Stamp Internet postage technology to support online credit card-based postage purchases.

Unlike the original E-Stamp system, the firm said that its Web
browser-based technology requires no hardware or Windows-based
software to be downloaded.

The company said it is targeting its browser-based E-Stamp system at
businesses with broadband Internet connections, as well as consumers
with cable modem and digital subscriber line (DSL) connections.

To use the service, customers will simply visit the firm's e-postage
portal at http://www.e-stamp.com , download a small print plug-in, purchase postage and begin printing stamps using a standard laser or
inkjet printer.

E-Stamp President Robert Ewald said that with other software-only
services, customers are still required to download and store large
files on their desktop, limiting ease-of-use and mobility.

The updated E-Stamp system, meanwhile, is now into version 1.1 and
will become available to users of the system this sprint. The system,
along with credit card support, also has increased support for
printers and what the firm calls "enhanced product and online tools."

E-Stamp's Web site is at http://www.e-stamp.com.
