Microsoft Preps Tablet PC Launch Events

Beginning November 7, Microsoft will hold numerous launch events around the country to celebrate and showcase the official launch of the Tablet PC. First announced at COMDEX two years ago, the Tablet PC is being hailed as the "evolution of the notebook computer." Many first-generation devices will in fact come in a notebook form factor running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.

Intel, VIA and Transmeta have signed on to develop Tablet PC microprocessors, with ViewSonic, NEC, Acer, Compaq, Fujitsu, Toshiba and others also joining the initiative. Adobe and Corel are among those who will extend to their applications to support the Tablet PC platform.

The Tablet PC launch events are free and attendees will receive a Tablet PC demo CD, a Tablet PC t-shirt, trial versions of Microsoft software and $50 rebate coupons for Windows XP and Office XP Professional. Registered attendees also have the chance to win a Tablet PC and other prizes such as copies of Windows XP Professional.

Events are scheduled to take place throughout the week of November 7. For more information and to register for a Tablet PC launch event, visit tabletpcevent.com.
