As the 2015/2016 school year starts coming to a close, students begin dreaming about summer vacation. Some parents, however, are already dreaming of something else -- the start of the next school term! As much as parents love their kids, having them home all summer can be a bit much, understandably.

While it is never too early to begin daydreaming about your kids returning to school, the same can be said about researching the next PC you will buy them. After all, you don't want to buy last year's model when the new ones are right around the corner. Today, HP unveils its all-new Pavilion lineup, perfect for 'Back to School' and beyond. If you are thinking about buying an affordable Windows 10 PC, the company's Pavilion portfolio offers amazing quality and value; you need to check them out.

Laptops

"For 2016, HP redesigned the HP Pavilion x360s to be sleek with audio custom tuned by experts at B&O PLAY for on the go entertainment. HP added a new 15.6-inch diagonal model to the 11.6-inch and 13.3 -inch diagonal HP Pavilion x360s which are 12-14 percent thinner with lighter designs compared to the previous generations with starting weights at 2.93lbs6 and 3.48lbs6 and profiles at 19.3mm and 19.8mm thin respectively. HP’s new 15.6-inch diagonal HP Pavilion x360 starting weight is 5.07lbs6 and is 23.9mm thin. This year's models feature a new digital thread pattern on the keyboard deck in a pearl coloring for added depth and style which now spans across the Pavilion convertible and notebook portfolios", says HP.

The company further shares, "the new portfolio of Pavilion notebooks include 14-inch and 15.6-inch diagonal Pavilion notebooks that are 11-22 percent thinner and lighter with a smaller footprint compared to the previous generation. The starting weight is 3.3lbs6 and 4.26lbs6 with thin profiles at 19.5mm and 22.5mm, for the 14-inch and 15.6-inch diagonal versions respectively. For creating and consuming media, HP is also offering more power and performance in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch diagonal Pavilion models with starting weights at 4.62lbs6 and 6.28lbs6 and 24.5mm and 29.9mm thin profiles, respectively. The new designs are offered in a variety of color options including Natural Silver, Modern Gold, Blizzard White, Onyx Black, Cardinal Red, Dragonfly Blue and Sport Purple with the new threaded design element on the keyboard and speakers".

All of HP's x360 Pavilions with Skylake Core processors, plus less-powerful (and less expensive) Celeron and Pentium chips too. The non-convertible Pavilions can be configured with Nvidia graphics or an AMD APU. Students will absolutely love the available colors, allowing them to be both unique and fashionable.

Desktops

While laptops are the obvious choice for students in a classroom, desktops are a solid choice too -- depending on need. Besides having great upgrade potential, these stationary machines are particularly great for family use, where a parent may want to keep an eye on their child. HP is introducing a Pavillion tower, plus a couple of gorgeous all-in-one computers.

The tower looks a bit basic -- having a business workstation look -- but it is attractive nonetheless. You can configure with up to 3TB of storage and 16GB of RAM to tackle most of your needs. Two HDMI ports make a dual monitor setup easy, but you can opt for Nvidia graphics with up to a Core i7, or an AMD APU with R7 graphics instead of the stock Intel graphics if you prefer.

The stars of the desktop show are the all-in-one computers, however. The company says, "HP is now offering two new HP Pavilion All-in-Ones in 23.8-inch and 27-inch diagonal displays with an edge-to-edge display or a micro edge display option on select models that further reduces the border 75 percent for more viewing area compared to the edge-to-edge display. The micro edge display tilts from -5 degrees to 25 degrees while the edge-to-edge display tilts from 0 to 25 degrees for a comfortable viewing experience. IPS displays are available in Full HD or Quad HD, with optional touch and audio custom-tuned by experts at B&O PLAY adds dynamic sound on the two front firing speakers for a truly immersive experience".

The edge-to-edge display model is absolutely gorgeous, but a lack of a meaningful bezel has one downside -- no room for a webcam. HP engineers came up with an ingenious solution, however. As you can see in the above photo, the webcam and microphone pops out of the top. Aesthetically, this retains the beautiful design when a cam is not needed.

From a privacy perspective, it is quite smart too. When you press it down, the webcam and microphone are disabled entirely. You can be comfortable that no one is spying on you -- no need to put a piece of tape over it!

If you decide to purchase HP's Pavillion tower, you will undoubtedly need a monitor. Don't worry, the company has that covered too. As you can see above, the 32-inch Quad HD display is absolutely beautiful. It features HDMI, DisplayPort, and a USB hub. Photographers will appreciate the 100 percent sRGB for realistic colors.
