BT Broadband customers hit by connection problems due to DNS issues
BT broadband customers across the UK are reporting problems accessing websites today. The ISP is aware of the issue and is currently working to implement a fix, but in the meantime, thousands of users up and down the country are experiencing DNS problems.
The problem is also affecting customers of Plusnet, a separate branch of BT. The company says that "Engineers are working to fix things as fast as possible", but this will come as little comfort to those who find they are unable to go about their daily business.
The BBC reports that the problems have been attributed to "power issues at one of [BT's] internet peering partners' sites in London". Thousands of reports have been made to Down Detector, whose live outage map shows that the problem centers around London, but extends north well beyond Manchester and into Scotland.
BT acknowledged the problem on Twitter:
Some BT Broadband customers have reported problems accessing websites this morning. Sorry, we're aware of a problem & working to fix asap

Have you been having trouble with your BT Broadband or Plusnet connection? If so, you might want to try using Google's DNS addresses (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) to see if that helps.
