While 4K displays are popular nowadays, 1080p variants are still wonderful. Quite frankly, depending on your needs, a 1920x1080 display could even be preferable. Gamers, for instance, may not have the GPU required to game on 4K. Not to mention, on Windows 10, some legacy programs and settings can look pixelated and blurry when up-scaling above 100 percent. 4K with Linux is even worse, but I digress.

Today, ViewSonic announces an absolutely gorgeous 24-inch 1080p monitor. The "VP2468" display has incredibly small bezels and professional-grade color accuracy. This monitor should prove brilliant for both home and business users, not to mention gamers too. But is the price too high?

"For precise and uniform color, each VP2468 is factory calibrated to a Delta E≤2 value for superior accuracy of all the included color spaces, including sRGB, EBU, SMPTE-C, REC709 and DICOM-SIM. The VP2468 is engineered with an integrated color uniformity function that ensures consistent chromaticity across the entire screen, while a 14-bit 3D look-up table generates a palette of 4.39 trillion colors for astoundingly precise and exact image reproduction. A six-axis color enhancement allows users to individually adjust six primary colors: red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow", says ViewSonic.

Kenneth Mau, senior product marketing manager at ViewSonic Americas explains, "color is critical for serious creative professionals, so we developed the VP2468 with superior color technologies. Whether you’re an artist or photographer or content developer, colors on a monitor—especially true-to-life colors -- are vital. The VP2468 features an edge-to-edge SuperClear IPS panel and offers super-wide viewing angles to ensure content on the screen can be seen from just about any viewpoint. And, with one of the world’s thinnest bezels, users can easily hook up multiple monitors for a more immersive viewing experience".

While some people may want a larger monitor nowadays, it is not recommended to go above 24-inch when using 1080p resolution. Once you go larger, text can appear less crisp. ViewSonic is wise to go with this size.

The VP2468 offers many connection options -- DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, and dual HDMI. If you are disappointing by the lack of DVI or VGA, please look at a calendar and see it is 2016! As is typical with many monitors nowadays, it also has an integrated 4-port USB 3.0 hub.

If you are interested in purchasing the ViewSonic VP2468, you can get it immediately from many popular retailers. The price is $326, which is a bit high for a 1080p monitor, but with the color accuracy, thin bezels, and overall attractive appearance, that may be justified.
