CyberLink Corp has launched the latest versions of its Director multimedia software. Video editor PowerDirector 15 (from $69.99) gets end-to-end support for 360-degree videos: importing, adding titles, effects and transitions, and producing the finished movie.

The new TRUE360 Viewpoint Designer imports 360-degree footage and allows it to be reused, with your choice of views, in standard videos.

An intelligent Color Enhancement tool boosts hue and vibrancy, while detecting and preserving skin tones from any distortion.

New mask creation and video blending tools bring many new creative possibilities.

New effects include Stop Motion, Zoom and Pan tools in the Action Camera center, along with assorted web-like one-click filters.

The core engine has been updated to TrueVelocity 6, too, with a promise of "smoother previewing and significantly faster production".

PhotoDirector 8 (from $69.99) gains an HDR-like multiexposure module, where a series of images are intelligently merged together.

There’s a new option to extract frames from your videos, enhancing them via TrueTheater technologies to deliver the perfect picture.

You get 40+ "Overlays", one-click web filter-like effects: lens flares, color shifts, scratches, "grunge" and more.

A more finely-tuned Color Shift tool turns most of the image black and white, retaining just the shade you choose for an eye-catching effect.

As usual, both PhotoDirector and PowerDirector are available in multiple versions. CyberLink’s comparison tables explain all, but for us the mid-range Ultra editions offer the most appealing mix of features and value.

Trial builds of PowerDirector 15 and PhotoDirector 8 are available now for Windows 7 and later.
