Holiday shopping is upon us, and some people in my life have started asking me about technology to give as gifts. Tablets are sure to be popular again this year, although probably not as much as years past. Apple's iPad is always a smart choice, but it is becoming harder to recommend an Android tablet.

Unfortunately, quality tablets running Google's mobile operating system are becoming increasingly rare. Many Android variants are simply low-quality. Thankfully, a high-quality tablet from Huawei should excite shoppers. Previously available in Europe only, the Huawei MediaPad M3 is available in the USA starting today. Best of all? It is very affordable too.

"We know how important gaming and videos are so we crafted the tablet with a remarkable 8.4inch 2560 x 1600 IPS screen which offers the highest-resolution display on the tablet market. We also made sure you can view content in any format and added the capability to switch between three screen display modes -- large, medium and small -- for different sized fonts and graphical displays", says Huawei.

The manufacturer also shares, "featuring Huawei's proprietary power-saving technology and a 5100 mAh high-density lithium battery, we make sure you’ve always got a charge. The MediaPad M3 is powered by Huawei’s powerful Kirin 950 processor, based on 16nm FinFET+ process, and includes an advanced 900MHz T880 quad-core graphics processor. What this means for you is faster performance and better video and gaming graphics".

Besides the powerful processor, high-quality display, and large battery, the MediaPad M3 is chock-full of other great specifications too, such as dual Harmon Kardon-certified speakers. It comes standard with 32GB of storage, but you can opt for 64GB if you prefer.

Shutterbugs should know it has an 8 megapixel camera on both the front and back. While it does not have the latest-and-greatest Android 7.0 Nougat, it does come with 6.0 Marshmallow. For the security-conscious, a fingerprint reader (with gestures) is included.

So, how much does this great-looking Android tablet cost? Surprisingly, the Huawei MediaPad M3 starts at a very low $299. This makes it a very attractive gift for Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday you celebrate. It is available immediately from Amazon in both silver or gold. At this price, I don't know how long stock will last, so I suggest buying sooner rather than later.
