Nokia Unveils Seven New Mobile Phones
Nokia on Monday introduced seven mobile handsets slated for debut in the second half of 2005 that cover WCDMA, CDMA and GSM markets. Atop the list of new entrants is the Nokia 6280, a $450 USD 3G phone equipped with a 2-megapixel and a VGA camera complete with support for two-way video calls.
The Nokia $360 USD 6270, meanwhile, foregoes the VGA camera but adds a built-in music player capable of playing MP3 and AAC formats through its stereo speakers. It features the same QVGA, 262,144 color display at 320x240 pixels as the 6280, but supports only GSM networks in its slide phone form factor.
A CMDA version of the 6270, the Nokia 6265, focuses on camera photography with 24MB of internal memory and support for miniSD cards. Also a slide phone, the 6111 is a tri-band GSM handset featuring a 1-megapixel camera and 128x160 pixel screen.
"Whether it features WCDMA, GSM or CDMA internal circuitry, or whether it offers mobile music, mobile photography or 3G services, a handset must be easy to use in order to bring tangible benefits to consumers. Simplicity is the key for technology to enrich peoples' lives," said Kai Oistamo, Senior Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia.
Nokia also expanded its low-cost mobile offerings on Monday with the $170 USD 6060, a dual-band GSM flip phone, the 2225 CDMA flip phone, and the 2125 candybar-style featuring a "classic style."
