COMDEX 99: Wild File Demos New GoBack for Windows NT

Wild File today showed off its newest product, which they classified as "nearing beta," GoBack for Windows NT. The GoBack product line is a computer recovery system that allows users to restore their systems from pre-crash images that it creates. The demo was quite impressive as they deleted Windows
System directories and much more, all restoring without
a hitch. Fellow exhibitors laughed at the GoBack presenter's
enthusiasm during the deletion of Windows.

The product works on a more basic level by setting
aside a portion of the hard disk and writing images to
the drive without user interaction. This eliminates
the user having to stop work and create
a snapshot of the machine, and also a recent backup of data.

The product line touts recovery from major system
crashes, retrieving data that has been erased, removing
failed software installs without leaving a trace of
the software, and file recovery in the case of saving a
modified document overtop an original.

Wild File's materials say that a typical install would
require about 10% of the drive space and would allow
the user to access about a weeks worth of backups, a
nice thing for those of us who either forget to backup, or have a tendency to tinker with our system
too much.

Wild File has not yet decided how beta testing will work for this new product, although assured us that we would be notified whether or not testers were needed. Keep checking back in the coming weeks for more information about GoBack for Windows NT.
