New Sway Democracy app wants to help you choose between Trump and Clinton

You've probably noticed that there's an election just around the corner. As Trump and Clinton battle it out there have been accusations that Russia is trying to interfere with the result, Julian Assange has been cut off from the internet to prevent him meddling, and Google has released a fact checker to help separate political fact from fiction.

There's no denying that this is one of the most important US elections ever, and the balance of power could be tipped by an important demographic -- millennials. With this in mind, a new app aims to help educate younger voters so no matter who they vote for, they are doing so in an informed way. Enter Sway Democracy.

The app is not about getting voters to support one candidate over another -- it has not been put together by the Trump or Clinton camps. Rather the aim is to encourage discussion and debate, and not just between millennials, but anyone in the world of any age. The US election may only be open for US residents to vote in, but it's an election that will have a global impact, and it's important for everyone to understand what's involved.

The developers say that this is not a matter of left and right anymore; in fact Sway Democracy looks to move away from the party politics that can be so polarizing and reductive.

Sway is the app that gives us all, young and old, greater knowledge and understanding of the major issues being debated and how we would then vote.

We will demonstrate how those most passionate vote in order to persuade others; and take a step towards transforming politics for the better. In time, this will change how we vote and ultimately how democracy can become more democratic!

We do this by showing you the best news and opinion articles from around the world on both sides of the political divide and from the very best and most reputable news sources to give you all sides of the argument. The more levels you engage with, reading the articles, voicing your opinion, fuelling the debate, the greater your understanding as we delve into policy and long-term studies from esteemed global institutions -- to therefore give you more influence or sway in the vote's outcome. You will be armed with the full argument and all the supporting facts.

You'll be shown how you voted on issues within the app compared to the community standard vote. The user will draw deeper insights about democracy and how knowledge is critical.

The app is interesting because it presents information pulled from both the traditional press and online media, from all areas of the political spectrum. Voracious reading is encouraged so users can question and educate themselves. The sources from which information is pulled is initially hidden to prevent pre-judging based on past experience or ideology  in the hope that this will allow for more reasoned analysis and serious consideration.

You can download Sway Democracy from the App Store for iOS or from Google Play for Android.
