How businesses should respond to unplanned downtime
Today's businesses face a wave of challenges when it comes to protecting their data. Securing data in the cloud, a rise in ransomware attacks, and increases in unstructured data all make it hard to plan operations effectively and can lead to unscheduled downtime.
Cloud data protection company Arcserve, however, sees this as an opportunity for organizations to re-assess their ability to cope with problems. The company has released a report setting out five strategies to help organizations prepare for and respond to unplanned downtime.
These include improving risk management and making more effective use of the cloud. By applying Arcserve's strategies enterprises can prioritize their most critical areas of weakness and allocate investments accordingly. They can identify potential gaps in the workflow or value chain of critical business applications and act accordingly.
They will also be able to successfully test plans and guarantee effective execution during an interruption event, ultimately providing more control over recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs). They'll also be better equipped to recover from ransomware events and their damage without paying a ransom.
"The new challenges hitting IT teams are certainly cause for concern," says Christophe Bertrand, vice president of product marketing for Arcserve. "Organizations that implement strategies around risk mitigation, proactive ransomware response, data availability for system ecospheres, processes simplification, and the role of cloud, will be well positioned to meet any business demand".
