Microsoft has once again released a preview of an update for Windows that is due to get a full launch next Patch Tuesday. The KB5014023 update is available for Windows 10 versions 21H1 and 21H2, as well as Windows Server 20H2 and it fixes a number of issues.

Among the problems addressed by the optional update is an issue that caused file copying to be much slower than usual. Other notable changes include a fix for a GPU issue that caused apps to crash, and a fix for a problem that prevented Excel and Outlook from launching.

Last month, we wrote about problems experienced by some Windows 10 users who installed the KB5012599 update -- specifically 0x8024200B and 0x800F0831 errors.

While the problems are yet to be publicly acknowledged by Microsoft or added to the list of known issues with the update, the word is that a fix is on the way very soon. Ahead of next month's Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has released a preview of a significant update for Windows 10 that addresses a series of bugs in the operating system.

The preview of the KB5011831 update is available for Windows 10 version 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2 and it fixes numerous issues including one that causes a black screen to be displayed. There are also fixes for problems with OneDrive, the news and interest panel, and more.
