New solution improves access control for hybrid clouds

Cloud access

The growth of cloud and hybrid environments brings challenges for security professionals when it comes to control, monitoring, and management of access to critical systems by privileged users and third-party vendors.

A new solution from secure access specialist Bomgar allows companies to quickly enable controlled system access and defend against cyber attacks without requiring complex process changes.

Bomgar Privileged Access Management 15.2 offers new capabilities for securing access within hybrid cloud environments, approving and auditing access activity, and integrating with password management solutions.

"Privileged identity solutions can be difficult to implement and often require companies to reengineer their processes -- taking months or years to fully implement," says Dan DeRosa, SVP of product management at Bomgar. "Today's security professionals have to contend with hackers that are constantly probing, infiltrating, and compromising their networks. Our Privileged Access Management solution is designed for easy implementation and to support current access processes, allowing our customers to quickly set up an effective line of defence against cyber criminals while continuing to work on more complex security projects".

Features of the new version include cloud access control that allows organisations to harden internet-facing cloud resources by closing all unnecessary ports, while still giving users shell and remote screen access. Bomgar supports Windows, Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu Linux VMs powered by AWS, Azure, VMware and other IaaS providers.

Forensic search capabilities can index audit log activity data across all privileged sessions to help security professionals and auditors identify critical security events, detect cyber breaches, and compile forensic evidence. Privileged Access Management Mobile Consoles allow systems administrators, security officers, and third-party vendors to access privileged systems or chaperone users directly from their Android or iOS device.

There's also an Enterprise Credential Manager that integrates with password management solutions, this enables automatic password injection to authorized systems through an encrypted Bomgar connection. Users can authenticate to systems with one click and elevate privileges without exposing credentials.

The software is announced today at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit in London and you can find out more on the Bomgar website.
