Infrastructure-as-code and its game-changing impact on rapid solutions development

Rapid solutions development has become the standard in the tech world, empowering organizations to be first to market and fast to acquire a return on their investment. However, achieving rapid development has become increasingly more difficult.

One of the main challenges to rapid development for today’s tech firms is the ever-increasing complexity of the tech world. New solutions must integrate with a virtually unending tech universe, and the factors that must be considered -- as well as the likelihood of conflicts -- have grown exponentially in recent years.

Enterprise digital infrastructure expected to shift to subscription models

By 2026, 80 percent of new enterprise digital infrastructure investment is forecast to be operated through a subscription-based model.

The Global Interconnection Index (GXI) 2024, released today from Equinix, predicts that in order to meet the ever-growing demands of data-dense technologies such as AI, 5G and edge computing, IT decision-makers are increasingly shifting away from long-term purchases of physical equipment, such as servers, routers and storage arrays, in favor of flexible subscription-based models.

Advanced search, analytics and AI deliver a smarter infrastructure platform

The use of infrastructure as code to define and deploy network and data center architecture has become increasingly common. Whilst it undoubtedly offers many advantages, it can create challenges too.

Pulumi is launching a new tool that unlocks analytics and search across cloud infrastructure, generates infrastructure as code from natural language prompts, and even enables novel AI-driven infrastructure automation.

Examining the barriers to infrastructure-as-code

IT management has never been easy and the complexities multiply as we seek to adopt the latest technologies and push the bounds of innovation. For instance, as we enable more digital capabilities, by nature, we must increase the number of applications used within our IT environments. However, provisioning the infrastructure resources required to build and manage applications can often be an unpredictable process, causing bottlenecks and performance issues across the entire environment but especially so in one key area, data storage.

Rather than succumbing to the complex, highly manual and time-consuming nature of IT management, new solutions and management frameworks can help to create more simplicity and ease. Modern infrastructure that emulates a cloud operating model is capable of prioritizing flexibility, agility and speed in addition to enabling reliability and performance. What initially began with the prolific adoption of infrastructure as-a-service has now paved the way for infrastructure-as-code.
