The report also finds that unauthorized access was the leading cause of breaches for the third consecutive year, increasing year-on-year for the past two years, and accounting for 43 percent of all breaches in 2020.

80 percent of organizations have experienced a third-party breach

Organizations are suffering from a lack of visibility into their supply chain and 8 percent experienced a breach that originated from vulnerabilities in their vendor ecosystem in the past year.

A new report from cybersecurity services company BlueVoyant, based on research carried out by Opinion Matters, shows that only 22.5 percent of organizations monitor their entire supply chain and just 32 percent re-assess and report their vendor’s cyber risk position either six-monthly or annually.

easyJet hit by 'highly sophisticated' cyberattack: 9 million customers' details exposed

Budget airline easyJet has fallen victim to a cyberattack in which personal information of 9 million customers was exposed. Included in this personal data were details of travel plans, email addresses and, in some cases, credit card information.

The company is now in the process of contacting all of those who have been affected by the data breach, but says that anyone whose credit card details were stolen by hackers has already been contacted.
